Over the years, Ellen Cranitch of LYRIC FM has chatted to some extraordinary people but few have been as fascinating as Francy Devine, musician, poet, activist and teacher.
Francy recently spoke to Ellen on “The Rolling Wave” about all aspects of his life in an entertaining and engaging interview.
Born in London to Scottish parents, Francy was encouraged to sing by his mother, and learned much of his repertoire from his father. Perhaps that’s why his latest CD is called, “My Father Told Me”. Francy also took his ethnicity and politics from his father, as did Ewan McColl when he wrote “My Old Man”; and Francy pays tribute to both his father and McColl in his poignant rendition of the song on this album.
All Write Media are delighted to have manufactured the CD for Francy, beautifully packaged in a digipak with a 28-page booklet, which is crammed full of stories about the eighteen gorgeous songs.
